Circumcision based on Fatwa
The 86th Fatwa Committee of the National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs of Malaysia which convened on 21-23 April 2009 discussed the Law of Female Genital Mutilation.
Muzakarah has decided that the practice of circumcision for women is part of the Islamic teachings that must be implemented by Muslims.
In this regard, it is in line with the view of Jumhur Ulama’. Muzakarah agreed to decide that the law of circumcision for women is obligatory.
